Atelier 809 is a Montecito, California, workshop featuring five women artists whose diverse approaches and sensibilities embrace a common goal. This website is a continuing showcase for the recent work of Atelier 809's members and its founder/director, Jill Sattler, artist and a fourth-generation Santa Barbaran. Jill Sattler founded Atelier 809 in 2006. The group's primary focus is its members' commitment to the encouragement and acceleration of each person's painterly quest through the ongoing exchange of ideas and critiquing as well as the continued exploration and sharing of painting techniques. It is felt that such a collaborative effort invariably results in the expansion of each member's artistic endeavors. While the conceptualizing of art may seem to be a solo effort, it is the expressed belief that the ongoing process of interaction generates the cross-fertilization of ideas and ultimately increases and enriches the creative process.
